Some Lovin'

Well, happy Valentine's day! We had a WONDERFUL weekend with a spontaneous trip to San Diego. We drove down there on Friday and Joseph did GREAT on the drive. We got there with enough time to check in to the hotel, go down to the beach and watch the sunset, go back and eat a yummy dinner at a restaurant next door to the hotel, debate whether or not to go swimming, decide against it and then crash for the night pretty early. For dinner I ordered a Hawaiin omelet - with ham, jack cheese and pineapple. I never thought of putting pineapple in my omelet, but I was mmmming and ooohing with every single bite. It was SOOOO good.

Friday morning we got up and hit the continental breakfast and then headed off to Sea World where we spent the day. We watched four shows there: Shamu, the sea lion's comedy act, 4D Sesame Street movie, and Pet's Rule.

While Joseph was napping in his stroller, we utilized the time to wait for the opportunity to touch the dolphins. We had to wait a while before one came up to us. They kept swimming by and John actually was able to reach out and touch them a few times before I could. I finally was able to touch one when it came up to me and stopped and let me pat it's head before swimming off. It was so neat. We made a stop to visit all of the creatures in the park.

Joseph did really well and seemed to enjoy himself, especially at the Pet's Rule show. He was clapping along and panting when the dogs came running out on stage.

The weather was beautiful the whole day. We left the park around 6 and made a visit to the San Diego Temple. What an amazing building. It looks like a castle with all of its spires!

We ate dinner at the same restaurant that night and then back in our hotel we watched 17 Again.

Sunday morning we found our way to a local Sacrament meeting and then went back to the hotel to pack up and check out. But before leaving the city, we went to the beach one more time and spent a few hours there. Joseph LOVED playing in the sand.

He became tired, but not cranky after a while. So John held him and we walked in the waves for a while. Joseph eventually fell fast asleep on John's shoulder while we were looking for seashells and sand dollars and trying to avoid getting too wet from the big waves. We were successful with finding some cool stuff, but not so successful at avoiding the waves. I, in particular, was nailed a couple of times in the rear from behind when I was paying more attention to a cool shell in the sand than the wave coming up behind me! And even though we spent the rest of the afternoon in the car driving home, it really was a fabulous Valentine's Day and a great little getaway. Our first real vacation all together since we've had Joseph. yaay. :)

I especially love the picture of John and Joseph in green, and the one of Joseph's sand-covered foot! :) Thanks for sharing, what an awesome experience to see so many animals, and the beach.
