Hey Nogins!

So at John's work, him and a guy he used to work with came up with nicknames for each other. Somehow (not quite sure exactly) John's nickname became "Yogi." John loves silly nicknames, so he brought this "Yogi" name home and uses it all the time for Joseph. He's also adapted it to "Yogins." Both of these names are used interchangeably around here. Joseph copies everything we say and the way that he pronounces these nicknames are "Nogi" and "Nogins."

So the other night, I was cleaning up after dinner and John had gone to the bathroom. When Joseph was finished I let him down off his chair and he went running to find his daddy. I heard him open the bathroom door, walk in and say brightly, "Hey Nogins!" I laughed so hard because that's the first time I've ever heard Joseph call his daddy a nickname. And it was also funny because he's the one that thought to say it. It wasn't something I had told him to go say or that he was copying John saying.

Great little memory for us... just wanted to get it down in writing. :)

The Final Countdown

It's under a month left! 28 days to be exact... until my due date! (that doesn't necessarily mean 28 days till baby comes... could be sooner, could be later... most likely it will be later.)

Figured I ought to post a picture of me and my big belly before it's gone. Pregnancy is the only time I get to be proud of this gut! :)

House Rules

I absolutely LOVE attending BYU Women's Conference!! I am really sad I won't be able to attend this year. It's on April 28-29, 15 days after my due date. Unfortunately they don't allow nursing infants, so if I had my baby by then that would rule me out, and if I am still pregnant by then (I went 13 days over with Joseph) I don't particularly want to go into labor up there... so that rules me out too. Darn it. But I'm putting in a plug for all of you who can attend this year... it's so worth it! The theme this year is "By small and simple means are great things brought to pass." You can bet I'll be digging into the archives as soon as I can. I love that theme!

Anyway, one resource that I discovered last year at the conference for the first time were the sharing stations. They are little booths that you can walk around and look at that are absolutely PACKED full of awesome ideas from so many amazing women! Ideas range from all kinds of things from blogging, family home evening, dating, fitness, beauty, babies, parenting... just tons and tons of really awesome stuff. Anyway, the really awesome thing about it all is that they link each of the sharing station booths to an archive online, so when you get home you can pull it up and have access to all the awesome ideas, patterns, quotes, crafts, whatever it is that they shared in their station! Here's the link for last year's sharing stations... I warn you while exploring... you may fill up your list of "really awesome things I want to do someday" really fast!

And speaking of such list... the whole reason for this post is because today I did one of those things from my list! There was a sharing station last year about teaching children the joy of work that had a list of "our house rules" that I was so excited about because I had seen it in someone's house before and loved it and wanted a copy of it. So now, thanks to the archives, I've got it and today I created this with the rules so I can go get it printed and hang it up in our house. This is something I've had the idea to do ever since I saw it way back last April. Hey! I should celebrate! I crossed off something from my list of "really awesome things I want to do someday" before it had been on there for one year!! Yes!!!

(If you like this and want a copy of it too, I'd be happy to share it with you. Since this is the compressed version, it won't look the best if you just save it and try to print it. Send me an message at alittlesunbeam at gmail and I'll send you a copy of the original.)
